Toronto and Richmond Hill clinics with expertise in cosmetic veneers, orthodontics and medical aesthetics
Orthodontics is a special discipline of dentistry concerned with aligning the teeth and jaws to improve your smile and oral health. "Ortho" means correct or straight, and "Odont" means tooth.
Dr. Lo usually recommends braces to improve your physical "orofacial" appearance. Through orthodontic treatment, problems like crooked or crowded teeth, overbites or underbites, incorrect jaw position and disorders of the jaw joints can be corrected.
Nothing enhances your smile and boosts your self-esteem like orthodontic treatment. Listed below is more information about different types of orthodontic treatment Dr. Lo provides, as well as before and after images.
Crowding of the Teeth

Crowding is the lack of space for all the teeth to fit normally within the jaws. The teeth may be twisted or displaced.
Deep Overbite

A deep overbite, or deep bite, occurs when the lower incisor (front) teeth bite too close or into the gum tissue behind the upper teeth.
Overjet

Overjet, or protruding upper teeth, occurs when the upper front teeth protrude beyond normal contact with the lower front teeth.
Underbite

About 3 to 5 percent of the population has a lower jaw that is to some degree longer than the upper jaw. This can cause the lower front teeth to protrude ahead of the upper front teeth creating a crossbite. Careful monitoring of jaw growth and tooth development is indicated for these patients.
Open Bite

An open bite results when the upper and lower incisor teeth do not touch when biting down. This open space between the upper and lower front teeth causes all the chewing pressure to be placed on the back teeth.
